WILSON COUNTY - Victoria Hayden Stapleton was born April 1, 1921, in Loire, Wilson County, Texas, to Travis W. and Myrtle (née Swindler) Hayden. She attended Catholic School, then Fairview, and graduated from Floresville High School at 15, having skipped 2 grades. She earned a scholarship to beauty school in San Antonio and received her license at age 16. She began a career that spanned 73 years. At various times she worked in George West TX, San Antonio and later owned her own business in Kenedy and Karnes City TX. While working in George West she met O D (Stape) Stapleton. They were married on February 18th, 1946. They were long-time residents of Kenedy TX. She is preceded in death by her parents; her six brothers, Travis, George, James, Paul, Edward and Gervais Hayden; her six sisters Germaine Hayden, Leonora West, Alice Mosemeyer, Nan Sabe, Lillian Kyrisch, and Monica Kenney; and her husband of 46 years, Orrin Stapleton. She is survived by her daughter Pamela (Bruce) Uszynski of The Woodlands TX, and her two grandsons Adam (Beth) Uszynski of Victoria TX and David Uszynski of Austin TX and many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed ranch life, gardening and feeding the wildlife near her home. A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 17th. From 3PM to 5 PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 18th. at, 1:00 PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paschal Bergin officiating. Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery.
