[Brøderbund WFT Vol. 5, Ed. 1, Tree #1718, Date of Import: Feb 6, 2000]

Married Virginia Johnson. Buried in Johnson Cemetery, Kincaid, WV.
Lived on Loop Creek. Died of TB. Had 2 Children. Fayette Co. Death Records
indicate that he died of consumption and give his wife's name as "Nancy" Bays. Was he married twice?

The two children were: Allen L. Bays b. in 1851 and Araminte G. Bays b. in
1864. Araminte m. Isaac A. Radford 22 Feb. 1872 in Fayette Co., WV. Radford was a butcher at Deepwater. On the night of 11 Nov., 1893, he was shot and killed in an attempted robbery by three men: Wash Adkins, William A. Burwell and Charles Bays. Wash Adkins was hanged for the deed on 20 July 1894 and the other two men were sentenced to life in prison at Moundsville.

The man they killed, Mr. Radford, was uncle to Charles Bays. Charles was the
s/o Allen L. Bays (above). Allen had married Mildred A. Milden Adkins 01 Nov.,
      1874.

According to records, she was the widow of John F. Adkins at the time of their
marriage. Since her married name was Adkins, presumably there was some
relationship to the Wash Adkins who killed Radford.

Charles Bays is a very distant cousin.
