    • Mary Edith Hayden, of Floresville, died on Monday, July 2, 2001 at the age of 89. She was born on September 27, 1911 to John and Alice Westerman Hayden in Wilson County, TX. Survivors include brothers, Waldo Hayden and wife Juanita of San Antonio, and Hervey Lee Hayden and wife Mary of Floresville; numerous nieces and nephews. She graduated from Southwest Texas State Teachers College in 1948 with a B.S. Ed. In 1952, she earned a Masters of Education degree from Trinity University. Edith taught for 50 years in schools throughout Wilson County. Edith was a member of Fairview Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. Later, she became a member of First Baptist Church of Floresville and continued teaching Sunday School. Edith enjoyed working in her garden of flowers and vegetables. She was designated the 'Duck Lady' by proclamation of the County Judge and Commissioners for her yard displays of ducks. She was also proud of her large turtle collection. Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 P.M., Wednesday in the Vinyard Funeral Home, Floresville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 5, 2001, in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel, Floresville with Rev. Mike Clements officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Wilson County. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church 'United We Build Fund' or the Nurses In Touch Community Hospice.
